Esaote and the MyLab range

Esaote is a medical imaging company based in Genoa, Italy, best known for ultrasound and for dedicated MRI systems. A consortium of Chinese investors bought it in 2018, and its headquarters stayed in Genoa. Its ultrasound systems are sold under the MyLab name. This page is for orientation only — not a ranking and not a list of products we carry. Esaote renews and renames models often, and not every model is approved in every country, so ask exactly which system you are being quoted.

Where Esaote is often shortlisted

MSK and sports medicine

Esaote markets high-frequency linear probes — up to 25 MHz on some systems — for tendons, small joints and nerves. Test them on the finest structures you scan, beside other brands.

Rheumatology

Several MyLab systems are aimed at rheumatology, where power Doppler sensitivity in small inflamed joints decides the choice. Compare it on a patient with active synovitis.

Fusion imaging

Virtual Navigator overlays a previous CT or MRI on the live ultrasound image to find and target lesions. Check which systems and licences include it.

Vascular

Some systems offer a radiofrequency-based intima–media thickness measurement, which Esaote calls QIMT, for carotid assessment.

Vascular ultrasound

Veterinary

Esaote has a long-standing veterinary range, so vets often compare it with Mindray, SonoScape and Chison.

What to check before buying an Esaote system

  • Which model and configuration you are being quoted, and whether the unit is new, ex-demo or refurbished.
  • A demonstration on your own patients — for MSK and rheumatology, the smallest joints and tendons you scan.
  • Every probe listed by name, and which probes the platform accepts later.
  • Which software options are active — such as Virtual Navigator, elastography or vascular tools — and their price if added later.
  • Probe warranty, loan probes during repair, and local repair turnaround.
  • Applications training for your specialty presets, and service coverage in your state, including Sabah and Sarawak if relevant.
  • The MDA registration number for the system and each probe.

Buying a used Esaote system

Older MyLab models still appear on the Malaysian used market. They can be good value for MSK or veterinary work, but check the same points as for any older platform.

  • Whether the model is still supported for parts and service, and until when.
  • Element test results for every probe, and whether replacement probes are still available.
  • Which software licences are active, and whether they transfer to you.
  • The service history and the date of the last electrical safety and performance check.
  • MDA registration — a used system must still be registered to be sold.

Comparing Esaote fairly

Compare an Esaote quote with GE, Philips, Samsung, Canon and the Chinese brands at the same tier, with the same probes and the same software switched on. For MSK work, scan the same tendon and the same small joint on each system on the same day.
